Weighing and Measuring Revisited

After some consideration (and rather a lot of experimentation with liters of milk, kilos of flour and multiple sets of scales) we have come to the conclusion that we chose the wrong set of scales to determine Summer’s birth weight! The night she was born we weighed her on our own digital scales and our Midwife Roz’s fish scales and when they differed slightly we went with Roz’s scales. In retrospect we have decided our own scales were actually more precise and Summer’s actual birth weight was 4.47 kgs or 9lb13oz.

After the weighing there was also measuring, trimming of the cord (which was retied with thread instead of the big plastic clip), some critical health checks and getting dressed for the very first time. Isabelle was entranced by the whole process, as were all the adults present.
