All about the placenta

The evening after Summer was born our midwife Roz came for her first visit. The minute she walked in the door Isabelle,our natural scientist in the making, was desperate to get the placenta out of the fridge and learn all about it. That may have been my fault – I told her Roz would show her when she asked me to show her earlier in the day.

Grace was very curious too but also clearly found it all a bit icky, so first Roz gave the girls some gloves and then she showed the girls all the parts of the cord & placenta and explained how it all worked, starting with the three vessels in the cord. After that they made some placenta prints.
