Getting OrganisedSummer is growing at the usual incredible rate of new babies – and she didn’t start off small either. Which means by our calculations she has another two weeks in the bassinet at the most. In fact she should probably be in the cot already – only Grace is still in the cot! So the last week has been a frenzy of planning and organisation. Geeks that we are we have all our current furniture as scale objects over a plan of our house in OmniGraphle. So we considered our options and then we sat down and shuffled furniture around the house plan until we came up with a new arrangement that worked. Isabelle and Grace are going to share what is currently my office, Summer will get Jesse’s office and Jesse and I will now share an office in what was the big girl’s room. A few large pieces of storage furniture will stay where they are at the moment. And then we shopped for bunks and we considered all the other “stuff” that would be required for this new world order and then I shopped some more. And shopped… Twice at a local kids furniture store, make that three times, twice at ikea, multiple times at spotlight, and at a variety of other home/bedding stores… Bunks & mattresses have been ordered, two mattress protectors and a doona for grace are now in my possession, fabric is on it’s way to make doona covers then quilts. And then there is all the other stuff that needs doing… A desk for Isabelle. Maybe. If it fits. Bits and pieces to put more pictures on the wall at last… And a wall chart made of removable stickers with a chalk board surface to help us keep track of who is doing what, where and when… It’s nice to be getting back to normal life again. To actually be well enough to go shopping. Nicer still that Summer is settling down a bit now and slept through the entire Ikea experience! |
