A walk gone wrong…

As some of you may know I had a pretty bad pregnancy and was in a walking frame the last 4 months or so. So my feeling well enough to try walking around the block today was quite an event for our house hold.

Little Summer has reflux and I was hoping a walk might settle her – so I set off with the two older girls on their bikes while Jesse was cooking dinner. Just around the corner from our house Grace lost control of her bike crossing a driveway with quite a steep incline and was veering onto the road into oncoming traffic. I let go of the pram to grab Grace’s bike and turned back to the pram just in time to see it roll off the curb and dump 2 week old Baby Summer in the gutter. Luckily she was carried most of the way down in the pram before tipping out but it was horrifying none the less. Summer got a fright but is fine, I on the other hand went into shock.

The woman whose car would have hit Grace had I not caught her bike saw it all and pulled over and waited with me while Isabelle ran home to get Jesse…

So not how I was hoping the first walk would go!

Obviously I would normally have put the brake on but there literally wasn’t time to do that and catch the bike – and to be honest I am not accustomed to such a free wheeling pram and it didnt enter my head that I had to choose which of them would be rolling onto the road! Certainly makes me question the wisdom of not having a harness in a bassinet…
